Women and the Constitution

In May 2011 the Women and Memory Forum initiated the "Women & Constitution Working Group". This working group saw the light after the January 2011 Revolution and is part of the Coalition of Egyptian Feminist Organizations. Its aim is  to engage with the current debate on writing a new Egyptian constitution. The working group is composed of a number of feminist researchers and activists: Amani Khalil, Amina El-Bendary, Hala Kamal, Marwa Sharaf El-Dein, Maissan Hassan, Salama El-Naqash and Yara Sallam.

The "Women & Constitution Working Group" suggested new constitutional articles on issues of equality, political participation, education and personal freedoms.
