Translation, Gender and Knowledge Production Symposium

On the 9th of May 2010 the Women and Memory and Forum's Translating Readers Project was hosted by Center for translation Studies and the Institute of Gender and Women's Studies of the American University in Cairo for a one day symposium on "Translation, Gender and Knowledge Production".

 
The  introduction  was given by Dr Samia Mehrez the director of the Center for Translation studies, Dr Martina Reiker the director of the Institute for Gender and Women's Studies and finally by Dr Hala Kamal of the Women and Memory Forum. The first session was on Gender Studies across the disciplines and the editorial decisions and logic and selection. The second session was on Gender studies in Arabic language, issues of translation and knowledge production. The event ended with a moderated roundtable with all the contributors.
