Samha Al Kholi.JPG

Samha Al-Khuli: Al Thakera wa-Al Tarikh (Memory and History) is written as part of the series entitled Women's Voices, published by the WMF to revive the voices of pioneering Arab women and present their professional and intellectual achievements in all fields. The books are based on long oral interviews with the subjects women, part of Women and Memory's Archive of Voices project.

Samha Al-Khuli was not only a brilliant musician and teacher but also an independent and genuine thinker who saw music as a tool influencing society as a whole. Al-Khuli led the musical life in Egypt from the fifties onwards and passed her legacy down to many of her students. This book reveals the details of her life, elaborates on her education and sheds light on her achievements in her own voice.
