Al-Fatat Magazine

Summary

WMF republished the complete collection of al-Fatat magazine, originally published by Hind Nawfal from 1892 to 1893. The first issue of al-Fatat was published and distributed on the 20th of November, 1892 in Alexandria, Egypt. Being the first Egyptian magazine solely dedicated to women, al-Fatat played a major role in promoting the participation of women in the field of journalism in particular, and in public life in general. The magazine addresses a female audience and embarks on discussing women's issues openly. Al-Fatat is an important source for the study of Arab and Egyptian women's history.
