Salata Baladi, a documentary by Nadia Kamel, was screened at WMF on December 16, 2007.  The screening was followed by a discussion of the film.  Nadia Kamel and the director, Atteyat El Abnoudy attended the discussion.  In the director’s note, Kamel stated that “But as my mother told her stories, I discovered that the film could not simply be a reclaiming of our treasured past: we found ourselves colliding with pockets of denial and silence”.

Kamel was born in Cairo in1961 and Salata Baladi is her first documentary.
