An Introduction to Women’s Issues, in Words and Images
This book is a collaborative project that introduces the general Arab reader to the fields of gender studies and women’s issues in the Arab and Egyptian cultural sphere. The book covers a variety of themes such as education, issues of resistance, gender equality and cultural stereotyping, law, women's movements, and women pioneers in several fields. The presentation is characterized by both the historical dimension and current debates. Most importantly, it utilizes an appealing combination of written information, documentary material and archive pictures, cartoons, designs, and humor to introduce debates to the lay reader. It is a WMF group effort and is co-authored by Hoda Elsadda, Omaima Abou-Bakr, Rania Abdel-Rahman, Hala Kamal, Sahar Sobhi and Hoda El-Saadi. It is illustrated by Maher Sabri and Sara Enani.
